About
Ground Check is a trading name of Australian Ground Sciences Pty Ltd. It exists because a house, a granny flat or a retaining wall should not have to go through the same proposal process as a transmission line to get a properly engineered soil report.
Australian Ground Sciences is a geotechnical engineering consultancy in Sydney: site investigation, foundation design, materials testing and monitoring, with senior engineers directly involved from the first site walkover to the final report. Most of that work is for developers, builders and infrastructure owners, and it is scoped and proposed job by job.
Small jobs do not fit that mould. A home owner who has been told to “get a soil test” wants a price, a date and a report their builder will accept, not a proposal. So we built Ground Check: the same field engineers, the same laboratory and the same sign-off, with a fixed fee for standard sites and a form instead of a phone tag.
The reports carry the Australian Ground Sciences name and are signed by an AGS engineer. That is deliberate. Your certifier and your slab designer are relying on the engineering, and the engineering is the same whichever door you came in through.
How we work
Reports exist to transfer understanding, not to hedge. Ours say what we found, what it means and what to do about it.
A classification or a recommendation is tied to the borehole logs and the test results that support it, and they are in the report.
Every report is checked and signed by an engineer at Australian Ground Sciences before it is issued, however small the job.
Contact
A question about which report you need is a good reason to get in touch. So is a site that does not look standard.
Site classification (small structures, simple ground): check your postcode and accept the fixed fee online. Geotechnical report (steep sites, basements, walls, complex ground, council conditions): send the address and we quote it, usually the same day.
